His proposal sounds pretty harmless from a technological standpoint, but it's a little scary that he wants it funded through insurance premiums and government funding. I had an idea a while back that involved a huge release of energy in the eye of the hurricane in order to disburse it. The energy could come from the ocean itself. It would certainly be cheaper. Any attempt to do anything about hurricanes is of course going to raise the hackles of the EcoFreaks but it's not like I care about that. In reading through Gates' proposal, I had a vision of whale getting sucked up through the process and getting shredded by a pump! Wouldn't that win him awards?!! You’re right, he must be bored.
