Doctors are stupid
April 18th, 2006Let’s continue this thing about education since it seems to draw out the very ignorant people I’m talking about.
Medical science is neither medical or science. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer when he was 32. The problems are:
1) He had been complaining to his doctor about the symptoms for YEARS and the prescription he got was Preparation H.
2) When the retards finally diagnosed the problem correctly, they proceeded to kill him.
He was dead by 37. They saw to it.
That wasn’t a misstatement. Cancer did not kill my father. Arrogant doctors trying to treat it did. He died of pneumonia because their ridiculous “chemotherapy” and radiation treatments destroyed his immune system.
The sick part is that they are still doing it to people today. Stupid doesn’t learn.
That’s not my only source of data. I’ve also worked in two hospitals and did a stint selling BMW’s. I’ve encountered many doctors in many settings and I’ve been able to clearly conclude that most of them are idiots. A lot of them can’t even balance their checkbooks.
Run like hell from doctors in America. They’re almost all stupid. (From what I’ve seen, most of them are greedy and selfish, too.)
And isn’t that the most important reason for “education”?
Baudork, you’re what I grind out in my ashtray.
How long ago was it Mark? You know each year the medical field comes a long way. I was going through some old stuff we found in a back storage building in our OR.. When the hospital was first built in 1950…I was just stunned on what they called surgical equipment… I was even reading some of the surgical books. I can’t imagine having surgery in the 1950’s, 1960’s and even in the 1970’s!!!
Just an example..no names…we had a man come in for a colonoscopy…he was approx in his late 50’s never had the procedure before. We found a tumor in his transverse colon that had grown to a point it has grown out of his bowels into his liver..if the man would have had a colonoscopy 5 years ago it would have been caught at an early stage…and could have been surgically removed… unfortunately now he has to try chemo and radiation to try and shrink it back down into just the colon….so they can do a colon resection on him…..what do you suppose those odds are?…you are suppose to have a colonscopy done at the age of 50….40 if you have a history of colon cancer in your family…..don’t quote me on this but i don’t think in the 1970’s they knew how to look and see as easily as they do now…they’ve came along way in diagnostic procedures since then.
and like every profession..you have the good and the bad…if you don’t like or trust your doctor you get a second opinion!
I must add…the surgeon i work for loves this quote!….there was a doctor that graduated last in his class….was it yours?
You know radiation and chemo both cause cancer, right? Smart people have known it for at least thirty years.
Most doctors still don’t.
As for the quote, I say that often and use it as wisdom. But even if he graduated at the top of his class, I’m not impressed. “Medical science” has been consistently wrong throughout history. As you pointed out with your mention of how pathetic they were in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Do you really think they have it all figured out now?
Even the good ones are dangerous.
The arrogance I made reference to was the arrogance of thinking they know.
They don’t.
Cancer treatment is a great example of what I’m saying. The treatment is far, far worse than the disease. They’re killing people and they’re too stupid to know any better. It’s the modern version of leeches.
Mark…hell NO!!! they don’t have it all figured out!!…..the medical field is not perfect..not all Doctors are perfect..BUT each and every day they are TRYING to make things better…less evasive on the patient….why do you think its called a PRACTICE??…Only God knows how to fix the human body…at least people are TRYING!!..what would you do if there was no Doctors at all…none..zlich..none to go to…not a one…not even one to fix a simple little hernia..or remove a rotten gall bladder?…what if all of a sudden those Doctors practicing said..”you know what..screw it..i’ve had enough….i’m outta here!!”..would you go back to a Dentist to remove the lump in your breast?..like they did back in the cowboy days?…back when women died in childbirth ALL the time!!…its very rare now!
The point I’m trying to make is…no one is perfect…its an on going learning field….each and every day they learn new things…sometimes at the cost of others..sad but true.
But what I find amusing is…everyone will point and call foul when something bad happens…but no one pats the Doctor on the back when he saves a life…or prolongs someone life long enough for them to get themselves in order…
funny how people only point out your mistakes at the drop of a hat….never your victories!!
as far as cancer…all i know is 3 ways to treat it….surgically remove it..(and pray its in a place it CAN be removed)..chemo …radiation…(which i agree rarely works)….in colleges lets hope someone is working on cell growth of cancer and what makes it form and what can stop it…but right now…NOTHING!!…unless you know something I don’t?
I dont’ claim to be a doctor..nor a science major…BUT…I do see the results of people that are in fear of going to the doctor for something simple…waiting years (because they are afraid to find out whats really wrong with them)..and wait so long that something that could be a simple fix ends up being a trip on the operating table….
if you feel a lump in your breast…(men thats for you as well…SEEN IT!!)…don’t feel on it everyday till its past a point its traveling through your nodes to every place else in your body…..if your crapping blood….or your bowel habits change….don’t pass it off as something you ate!!….GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!….the trick is to catch this stuff early so you don’t have to deal with long treatments of chemo and radiation!!
I agree cancer is a very ugly disease and deadly….and so is diabetis…want to go off on that topic?…want me to tell you about diabetics that don’t take that DISEASE seriously?
we could also get into medical insurance…i LOVE that topic!!!….i get ANGRY!!….*lol*
Speaking of operations gone bad:
WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE PICS OF THE HAIR CUT THE GIRLS GAVE YOU?
I think part of DC’s disgust with the medical system is almost complete lack of choice when it comes to treatment. Insurance companies foist their treatment policies on the doctors who them shove them down our throats. Because of our wonderful legal system doctors can’t afford to venture outside of established procedures for fear of being sued. They would rather let someone die. The fact that doctors have to be licensed by the government is another problem. Some people that would make good doctors never get their because it’s too much of a hassle and the liability is too high.
True ingenuity in the medical feild comes at too high a price. Thus we are stuck with cookie cutter medicine that is far behind what is really needed to save lives. In order to even become a doctor you have to show youself to be subserviant to the state that sort of person really makes for some lousy doctors.
Fortunately, a few of the good ones do survive but even they have their hands tied and cannot treat people the best way possible; only the approved best way.
The government should not have the power to hold sway over the medical field, it’s bad for all of us.
Reasonably competent doctors are good for setting broken bones, stitching up wounds, and doing general reassembly when someone gets injured.
They aren’t good at treating diseases.
The body itself is pretty good at treating diseases, given the proper tools - a healthy diet full of vitamins and minerals, lots of exercise, good rest, and a determination to maintain a positive attitude.
However, we cannot place all the blame on doctors for their ignorant treatment of diseases. Their patients want fast fixes - they don’t want to have to drastically alter their lifestyle; they want a miracle drug which will cure them and allow them to go on living in the same unhealthy fashion. Doctors are just trying to deliver what the public desires.
Dif, Arielle,
You both said it much better than I did.
Difster…hmmmmm….you had me all the way till you mentioned the Government…I don’t think its the Government as much as I think its these Insurance Companies…I know the surgeon I work for has to retake his State Boards (or whatever its called) every 10 years.. Which means he studies his ass off in other fields besides his own..Thank God the Government makes sure he retakes those exams so he doesn’t lose what he knows…he spends day to day working only in the “General” field…but those tests requires him to know about other areas of the human body….I would hate to know some Surgeon came out of med school and his resident at 33 years old..and 20 years later he’s never had a brush up..or learned the new treatments…like I said everyday something new comes out!…a Doctor could be very behind the times if the Government didn’t up hold some policies.
I’m also glad a surgeon can’t just walk into an OR and say..I think I’ll do this operation today even though he’s never done it before.. They can’t operate unless they have credentials to a certain type of surgery…they have to have performed this surgery so many times under another surgeon before they can just say “HEY..never done it before..but what the hell lets cut in and see how it goes”..Thank God it doesn’t work like that!!
But the Insurance Companies are making a killing off these Doctors…people think Doctors make mega bucks…..in truth…they don’t make that much after the insurance companies have took their cut…..if a Doctor has ONE investigation…just ONE…his insurance goes up even higher…even if he’s not found liable…a CRNA will not even be able to practice anymore with ONE investigation on his record…(because they will NOT be able to afford the insurance)
the money makers in the medical field are…Insurance Companies and Lawyers!
many many GYN/OB Doctors are dropping the OB because the OB Insurance is sky HIGH!…We’ll be back to Midwives delivering babies…which is fine till an emergency happens and someone need a C-section done!…I shudder at the thought.
Everyone is so sue happy..looking for that quick buck..its caused the insurance to rocket…supposly Bush was to put a cap on all this…BUT…doesn’t matter…because like i said before…even an unguilty investigation shoots their insurance up!!
Janet, don’t you think that in place of government controls over the knowlege that doctors possess that a PRIVATE standards body wouldn’t emerge? Of course it would. Good doctors would VOLUNTEER to belong to this organization and bust their butts to be good about it in order to attract patients. The people would want to make sure that their docs belong that that (or a competing) organization as a measure of competence. And here’s the important part…….. A standards organization can adapt to changes in the medical field FAR faster than government can so we’d essentially end up with better doctors.
It’s just plain wrongheaded to assume that if the government doesn’t make us do something that we will do the wrong thing.
Difster….oooooh I love how you assume everyone would be good (or that good would emerge as you put it)..it really kinda cute..your way of thinking!…just pulm adorable….that would be the American dream wouldn’t it?….but *sigh*…its just not how it is. Like I mentioned before…there are good doctors and bad ones…..what would stop the bad Doctors? if there wasn’t some sort of regulations to follow?….As much as I hate to admit it….there are butchers amoung us…how would you keep the butchers from VOLUNTEERING?
Janet, you’re informed and still ignorant.
Dif’s not “cute,” he’s smart and he’s using logic against you.
He’s also right.
Government is ALWAYS the problem and NEVER the solution.
How loud do we have to scream before you government school graduates get it?!?! Government is not your friend and cannot be trusted with anything but national defense. (Even that needs to be kept in check.)
They done made you stupid so they could have control with your approval.
Who the hell do you think gives the insurance companies so much control? Their lobbyists that own YOUR congressman.
You were sold a story by people too stupid to know it wasn’t true. This isn’t a democracy (and was never intended to be) and it’s no longer a representative republic. Those dreams have been dead for decades. This country is now, and for a long time has been, controlled by corporations that manipulate the feral government to “work things out.”
Throw out everyone inside the beltway, with the exception of Ron Paul, and start over with some people that give a damn about America and its Constitution. Good luck finding 534 of them in the US these days.
Mark…well guess what…I kinda like this Dif person…you know why?…even though he shares your views…he informed me of a solution instead of constantly calling me ignorant and screaming hatred like your doing…if you didn’t see..i was ASKING questions about one flaw I saw in it…..if he had good answers…I might could have seen his way on things!…I tend to attract to a sugar taste..not a bitter one!…….Those that call someone names usually see a trait they see in themselves…and HATE it!!….so maybe your the IGNORANT one!!
you are so full of hate Mark!!
Janet,
You are like a breath of fresh air blowing through the shit house that is this blog. You are way too level-headed and intelligent to be debating anything with Mark. You are challenging and questioning the most brilliant specimen of human being in a cowboy hat. You’re not simply agreeing with every maniacal rant as the others do. And now he is resorting to just calling you names. You have my respect as none of us have come close to challenging his level of sheer briiliance. I just get attacked for my poor typing skills and now I’m too injured to return intellectual cage match.
Oh, I also see Mark hates New Yorkers too. Lets add that to the list of doctors, cops, Europeans ( especially the British), Women, Teachers, Parents who send their kids to public schools, Government Employees, Politicians (especially the nigger ones), Actors, College graduates and Professors, Non-Christians, and …….
I guess this world is just too evil of a place for someone as great as yourself Mark. I think it is best that you just hide in the bottle and leave us ignorant low-lifes to live in the real world.
Please check my spelling for me!
Janet, why do you think a group like Consumer Reports wouldn’t arrise to evaulate doctors? Or something like AAA?
I know if I stop at a hotel with the AAA sign, I’m going to get a certain quality of service. If I want to buy a vaccuum cleaner, I can look up the features and reliability in Consumer Reports.
There are two different evaluation systems for you, either of which could work in this situation. Personally, I’d rather see both dealing with doctors: one that sets minimum standards (Hey, I’ve got bronchitus, this doc’s got the basic quality I need) and one that evaluates overall quality (Hmm, this doc’s got the best record on open heart surgery). It’s pretty darn hard to find out just what success rates a doctor has on treating various conditions right now.
BoysMom……hmmm…..you know I am trying not to get in an arguement here..because I’m not qualified to answer such things I won’t…I can only really dicuss what I see first hand…and what I hear surgeon talk about (or should I say complain about when it comes to their insurance?) I do know there supposely some place you can go on the web and look up your Doctor and see if he’s pretty much a quack or not..also..I do know if you ask a doctor his infection rate he’s to tell you…(if you distrust him you can call the hopsital and find out from them)….I don’t know much about your typical family medical Doctor…I do not work for them or know how it all works… I do work in a operating room and can see first hand who is good and who is bad…It truely is a scarey world for those that can’t see the techniques of each individual surgeon like I can…I know who I would go under the knife for and who I wouldn’t…I realize the general public does have this luxury….seems like right now all we really have is the old fashion way of word of mouth……I wasn’t out to start an arguement…I was basicly defending the OP (Orginal Post) about “Doctors being stupid”…..in my opinion…hey if there is a better way for people to get GREAT medical care in the US…shoot…lets do it!!!…lets write our congressman with suggestions not just negative complaints of the system we do have!!
I also was trying to say in previous posts…we’ve come a LONG way in the medical field…and yes we have a LONG way to go before we are in star trek times…*lmfao*
————
Bauhaus…..well you’d never know it by my pitiful excuse for grammer and my miss spelled words…and my lack of vocabulary to express myself correctly…..but I do have a college degree…..no seriously I do!!….*lol*…I’ve also read those responses about what a waste of time it is to get one…but I couldn’t do my job without it…sure wish I could have bypassed it somehow….because I damn sure would have…and let me tell you getting through ENGLISH was my worst nightmare and I spent many nights crying my eyes out over essays!!…(you can imagine MY hell *lol*)…so I dont’ care what anyone thinks of my spelling or grammer…i’m not gonna cry my eyes out any more over it!!…so don’t let the spelling/grammer nazi’s bother you…I don’t!
I have read some of your stuff and some of it I agree with it..some I don’t…but I do love Mark..as much as he frustrates me and calls me names…I still love him…probably about 10% of everything he says I agree with..the other 90% I sit back and bite my tongue..(well sometimes..*lol*)…but I STILL love him!…someday Mark will lose the bitterness and the sun will shine on him….we just have to wait for that day…..patience!!…you should have known him 10 years ago…he was totally different!!
btw…I’m not out challenging what he says..I’m merely trying to ask questions to LEARN another view point …but I get bashed everytime I do…poor poor pitiful me…*lmfao*
I have to say your are right to a point about doctors (that is medical doctors). I grew up in MO and my father is a Naturopathic Physician. For the last y4 years before I left the sate (2000 - 2004) I lobbied congress for a law to legalize Naturopathic Medicine in Missouri and so saw a lot of MDs and DOs who apposed us as well as apposing the optometrists, physician assistants, vets, dentists, chiros - anyone who had anything to do with health. My dad being a physician we heard your type of story daily. I have to say that MDs are the most arrogant people I have met - and like politicians it’s fame and the dollar. And you are right - most of them are not that smart either! I have to say of the hundreds (literally) I have come in contact with I can think of four I know that I have some respect for. One is dead, one retired, and two are persecuted.
They also were working hard to pass a bill that would put a cap of $50,000 for wrongful death by a physician or “mistakes” like taking the wrong leg off, claiming to take a DUI out but leaving it in because the doctor decided that the woman only needed one kid, or removing the wrong side of the brain, doing open-heart surgery on the wrong patient, etc. I have a post that shows the percentage of deaths from doctors compared to guns. http://philipnd.blogspot.com/2005/10/guns-vs-doctors-md-dos.html
Hi,
My boss says that doctors are smaterer than me. I feel I have more common sense than these docs do. So in other words, he is saying I am stupid because I do not agree with chemotherapy.
I am against all this modern medicine. Have been healing myself for over 40 years withnout the help of crackpots and modern meds.
Can you confirm my intelligence please. What snappy answer can I give my boss.
Thank you.

You ungrateful swine. We work harder than you can ever imagine to try and make people feel better. I hope you enjoy a long, healthy life and never need to visit a hospital. If you do, the team that treats you will be working as hard as they can to help you. So back off.
I feel sory for people who have been hurt by Doctors like I do about priest who are holy men that abuse children. We can not hate all because of a few Have a nice day..kalako
I just found this. Doctors are stupid. They know nothing and get paid so much money for acting self righteous. A Harvard Med grad nearly killed me after wrongly judging me, considering me a pill seeker and ignoring my serious symptoms of e.p.s. (allergic reaction to compazine for nausea). This went on for three years. The allergic reactions got worse and worse and resembled seizures that lasted for hours. I could have been permanently disabled. I suffered major depression and became suicidal. This doctor refused to help me. Other doctors I saw during this time were also stupid and couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me and did not document their failings. I thought I was losing my mind. I finally got referred to a doctor who immediately asked me if I took compazine. Yes, this doctor was outside of Kaiser. The others, all Kaiser doctors. No surprise, huh? I just saw a Kaiser doctor last week who accused me of “staring at her” um, it is called eye contact, and who also said she thought that I “deliberately set up the appointment to be disppointed with a doctor.” She was extremely rude and her questioning was inappropriate and out of line. I left without any answers as to why I am constantly ill and can’t feel/get better. Lame-ass stupid bitch is her name. Yeah, I took vacation time (I’m out of sick time) so I could go play around at the doctor’s office. I filed a complaint, but I honestly feel like when they get those, they sit around and laugh. I’m going to start seeing an accupuncturist. I can’t take the other shit any more. Doctors, nurses, all of them–no common sense, dumb as dirt, stupid.
Doctors are not only stupid or make mistakes. What people don’t realize that these people are like the rest and commit criminal assualt on people, and they know how to get away with it.
I went to Masoud Malek who is a plastic surgeon for a minor cosmetic work, he intentionaly caused breathing difficulty and when he was confronted with it he said, “well don’t breath” and you can’t show that you didn’t have it before. This son of satan comits malpractice and harms his patients so he can feel powerful. Malpractice laws, my ass.
Actually, most doctors are rather intelligent and try to help people. An old doctor I know told me that the best and the brightest students do not go into medicine anymore, and that what has happened in society has also happened in medicine. That means that quotas have become part of the selection process for medical school and that may have had the effect of lowering some of the entrance standards. The person who impressed me as being the most intelligent person I had ever met was not a doctor, but an electrical engineer. However, I knew a doctor that used to be an electrical engineer, so he must have been kind of brainy himself. Not all doctors are as great as they think they are in everyday life. Doctors are notoriously poor pilots. They are also quite often poor businessmen - I met a lawyer who said that a large part of his practice was bailing doctors out of bad business decisions. So let them think that they can do everything better than everybody else if it makes them happy. Would you want their job? I think it would be disgusting. Just humor them and hope they stay in medicine - somebody has to do it.
i have been to so many countries , american doctores realy stupid and selfish
