High education
Friday, March 17th, 2006Recently, I’ve seen the question asked many times. It goes something like this: “I’m completely on board with home education, but what about college?”
What about it? It’s an extension of the same mess as government schools. Home education doesn’t rule it out, but it’s rarely worthwhile anyway. I can’t tell you how many degreed idiots I know. (Look around here. Many of these jokers have degrees.)
I’ve never set foot in a college classroom. Perhaps it shows. If so, I’m happy about that. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished without playing that game. I’m also in good company. Tally up the college degrees among the founders in the Fortune 500.
If you would like to be a doctor or an engineer, college will probably benefit you. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time and money. The people teaching there are mostly doing that because they are incapable of making a living any other way. It’s a swamp of stupidity and ineptitude.
I hope to spare my daughters from it entirely. A real father raises children that have a work ethic but never have to work.
By the time my daughters are ready for college, I’ll be able to pay for it, and still won’t. It’s silly and mostly unproductive.
