That was To Have and Have Not, IM. I love that one enough to have once done some editing of my own on the clip you referenced and used it as a video thank you note.

It’s quite quotable. In fact, it gave us as least as many lines as Casablanca, but got slighted. I doubt that there was ever a more under-appreciated movie made.

But, you’re thinking of originals when we’re discussing parodies.

Bogart was in the movie we’re discussing here but it was made after he was dead.

You obviously overlooked the word “secretly,” Dif.

Err….no, I didn’t overlook it. I took it to mean he pointed when no one else is looking (or at least no one else that might take offense to it). If by ‘secretly pointing’ you mean just pointing with your mind, then I suppose I did overlook it.

My husband is not subtle. Ever. He notices, we discuss. Most of the time I notice the pointers before he does. Our latest debate is the fake v. real debate. I’m not insecure over whether or not my husband notices beautiful women or beautiful parts on women. :) I know who he wakes up next to.

As for your boys… good luck with the breast thing. When you think you’ve won that fight, they’ll still be secretly pointing at them just like your husband still does.

Hopefully her husband has moved beyond pointing at them. I never point at them. Sometimes though it seems they are pointing at me.

True, doll face, but nearly the entire script is quotable. I’ve had to wrestle with very important decisions each time I picked a quote to post here.

I was sadly too unlearned to know what I was looking at the first time I saw this one. But that time was a couple of decades ago. I’ve watched it close to three times in the last 24 hours and wondered each time what I was thinking all those years before.

Yesterday if you mentioned the title, I would’ve said, “Yeah. I saw that a long time ago. It sucked.”

Today, I’m wondering how many other classics it will displace on its climb up my list of best comedy movies ever. It will almost definitely be first on the satire/parody list.

You can train a dog but you can neither explain nor take away his most basic nature.

But what I was getting at, is that the movie’s rated PG. The worst thing in it are “booby” references. And even those are few. It’s probably safe for your boys, proven by the fact that they’ll also hate it.

My boys are not old enough for breast conversations… They just figured out “breasts” are something to point at. We try to discourage it.

And I am not too lazy… Busy and perhaps not seriously motivated to figure out the movie.
