Poker is life. Life is poker.

Not dead yet!

November 3rd, 2005

For those wondering, I’m still alive and kickin’. I guess it’s probably a bad sign when you click on your “create post” bookmark and get a login prompt. Even my blog forgot me.

Oh well.

I’ve had a crazy couple of days, a couple of times, lately. The end result is good. I think it was in the comments here that I said recently, “God has never let me down and I don’t expect Him to set a precedent now.”

He never has and He came through again. I once heard a preacher say, “One word from God can change your whole life.” ‘Tis true, dear readers.

He spoke a couple of days ago. Inside of 24 hours I had my dream job. The one I’ve been praying for. For a very long time. Working from home, doing what I love to do and making more money than I ever have in my life. Exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ask or think and all that.

But it’s kept me busy. I love my new client – he’s truly a great guy – but he likes to challenge me for the sake of the challenge. S’OK. I’ve never failed a test in my life. (As long as you don’t count life as a test – I’m not done with that one yet. Is there a time limit?)

Last week I was literally counting pennies. Today, I’m BACK!

And this is just the beginning….

The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just. I’m one of them just ones. Gimme mine!

Take THAT, snagglepuss!

  1. I glad to hear someone is having a period of prosperity, Paul talked about having been through both times of abounding and being abased. I could sure use a period of abounding, it seems like we have been abased for a long time.

  2. Hang in there, farmer. I know what you’re talkin’ about. I’m not completely out of the woods yet, either.

I know you know God. Trust Him. He’ll never let you down. Ever.

I’m pretty well versed in the abased. I’m still there for the time being. The key is to only pitch a tent there. It’s a temporary place. When you build there, you’re stuck.

God is bringing me out and he’ll do the same for you.

  3. I’m with you on that one Farmer Tom and it looks like i’m heading out of the valley myself now.

DC, I’m glad to hear about the job. Does this mean your kids are coming back soon?

  4. Glad to see you back. :) I’m encouraged to hear of God’s faithfulness to you.

I will pray that all continues to go well.

  5. GOOD DEAL!

    I’m happy for you buddy.

I was wondering if that hourly or salary post had something behind it.

Of course now with a real job you won’t be able to spend the hours and hours you normally devote to giving us thought provoking threads to comment on, but hey.

    Farmer Tom,
    You’ve been in my prayers.

    DC,
Let’s celebrate! This is awesome news. I’m happy for you.

  7. Congrats DC! I’ve been thinking a fair bit about what you said recently: “I’ve only just begun to fight”, those words just caught me, following your blog made them more pointed. There are some aspects of my life that I need to take that fighters mentality with (in a wanker’s way, obviously), especially in some social settings, like public speaking, for instance. So I couldn’t help but smile when I read this post. Some days I even forget my own mantra when it comes to dealing with challenges: “Don’t stop, won’t stop, can’t stop.”

  8. DC: Yes there is a time limit. The test is over when the doctor pulls the sheet over your face.

  9. Glad to see you back, Cowboy! Keep on keepin’ on.
