1. There is no such thing as a permanent job.
2. The loyalty of a company to you, the worker tends to diminish inversely the bigger the company gets. Workers tend to make the mistake of treating their employer as a ‘family’ rather than a simple exchange of market capital.

The days of the self-employed man are gone in this new “service based” economy. The push for worker bees has overcome the drive and desire to strike out on your own. Public schools are no longer teaching for academic enrichment but instead fill days with test preparation. Colleges are pandering useless degrees that teach you how to shuffle papers and work your way to a crappy middle management position in a company that more than likely won’t exist for more than 10 years. Somehow those positions where you can’t actually explain to someone what you do are coveted and sought after. A wise man once said, “I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.”

My father and law lived by this maxim: Better to own a sh*tty company than to work for someone else.

Of course, the words you speak today become the future you experience tomorrow.

A better maxim would be: Better to own a profitable company than to work for someone else.

A nine to five job can start looking really good in comparison to a sh*tty company you can’t sell nor make profit with.
