Go and listen

September 24th, 2005

I just discovered that our friend from Oz has put up a new mix that I know you all will like. Go and listen. (Be warned that it’s 7.2 MB but it’s well worth it.)

Jamie, where’s the love, bro? I gotta find out it’s there through a comment on somebody else’s blog linking to a comment on yet another blog where you posted the link? ‘S up with that?

I’m not upset because I want you to inform me every time you do something on my server. Nahh. I told you to do whatever you want there and I meant it. I’m just a little hurt, I guess. You’re pushing out the cool with a shovel and I have to find out like a common blog plebe?

I wanna be inside the inside loop, dog. The man that knows the man.

Seriously, everyone, that mix is awesome. Jamie’s a talented bloke and this one’s anointed, in my opinion. (Just don’t go poking around his other audio stuff lightly. I know some of you have delicate sensibilities and you’ve been warned: This kind of thing is not all Jamie does with sound. Most of you won’t like all of his stuff as much as this one.)

Also, some context might help. Jamie posted this mix in a discussion at Vox’s as part of this comment:

No. George, you’re right there. Americans will never be average. Never. You *few* guys left are the front lines for God. This I know. Nothing will change that, no matter how small you become.

But I like to stick it to you yank bastards when I get the chance!

*You understand*

Obviously the strength of my Christianity has been influenced by America…

While you curse yourselves, some grow from and praise what’s left…

Jamie knows far more about American politics, political history and economics than most Americans and more about American pop culture than some. As I’ve said before, Jamie, you’ve always got a place to stay in North Texas, even if I don’t cotton to being called “yank.”

  1. I just assume that when it hits your server, you get it straight away. I was gonna inform you, but then I thought, nah, DC woulda heard it. Sorry mate. And yeah, I was a few beers under at the time…

And hey, it’s a very patriotic day when the AFL Grand Final hits for that one day in September. I was very pumped up Saturday. But I figure I’m sweet when I refer to Americans as ‘yank bastards’, because hey, I’m not referring to ALL Americans (unlike ‘pommy bastards’, which is for every pom), I’m leaving the American South out – you guys aren’t yanks. I don’t refer to Texans or the other Southerners like Nate in a derogative way, because:

    a) You don’t mess with Texas. You really don’t. Even that hurricane backed off. I thought it would.

    b) John Wayne is the pinnacle of Western Man.

    c) I am not worthy.

  2. I listened. On point, brother.

  3. Dude, that was an awesome mix. I played it loud enough so it could be heard in the kitchen, and my wife and both girls who were fooling around just stopped and listened. To get three women to just stop and not speak simultaneously is truly an awe inspiring act.

  4. Stopping women talking… Yes Billy, as Vox put it in the acknowledgments section of his first novel, we serve a mighty God!

  5. This is incredible. Thank you!!!
